Anna Margaret Stevenson

Anna M. Stevenson, age 89, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 13th, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, MN.

Anna Margaret Stevenson was born on December 29, 1928 in Grafton, ND the daughter of Albert and Freda (Stephanson) Gillis. Anna grew up in the Gardar, ND area and graduated from Pembina High School. Following her high school graduation, she attended Mayville Teachers College and taught rural school near Akra, ND. On November 17, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Stevenson in Pembina, ND. They moved to East Grand Forks, MN where Anna worked at Wy's Garden Center as a bookkeeper as well as at Hugo's Family Marketplace. In 1962 Anna and Harold began farming north of East Grand Forks. As the consummate farm wife, Anna managed the household as well as pitching in wherever necessary to support farming operations. She was known to drive a truck, feed a harvest crew, or drop everything to run into town for a spare machinery part as necessary. Anna cherished her family and played an integral role in the lives of those close to her. She led by example and was the perfect model for parenting, grandparenting, inner strength, and always, always, unconditional love. Anna gave so much and asked for so little in return. Her loved ones will continue to try to live up to the standard she set, and she will be profoundly missed.

Family members who survive Anna include her children, Susan Zukowski of Grand Forks, ND, Cynthia Stevenson of Burnsville, MN, Tim (Sheila) Stevenson of East Grand Forks, MN, Kenny (Tammy) Stevenson of East Grand Forks, MN and Karen (Mark) Fodness of Bemidji, MN; her grandchildren, Chris (Billie) Zukowski, Scott Zukowski, Eric Zukowski, Chad (Matt Buckley) Stevenson, Shane (Brittany) Stevenson, Brady (Tara) Stevenson, Hannah (Kevin) Moderer, Heath Stevenson, Kyle Fodness, Adam Fodness, and Halle Fodness; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold and a sister, Christine Schafer.
