Two GF players drafted: A pair of Grand Forks players were selected in the United States Hockey League Phase II Draft on Tuesday.
Grand Forks Central graduate Grant Johnson, who played for the Bismarck Bobcats in the North American Hockey League last season, was picked in the seventh round by the Lincoln Stars.
Grand Forks Red River's Dane Montgomery was picked in the 17th round by the Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Phase II draft features all non-protected players born in 2002 or earlier.
On Monday, Red River's Jackson Kunz was picked in the first round of the Phase I Draft.
VanDomelen leads four UND honorees: Four UND players were honored Tuesday as all-Big Sky Conference selections.
Senior Kaylin VanDomelen was a repeat first teamer while senior Taylor Nadler, junior Marina Marzolino and sophomore Angel Love each picked up honorable mention nods.
VanDomelen is second in the league in strikeouts and holds a 2.19 earned-run average. At the plate, the Banks, Ore., native has a .286 average with 44 hits.
Nadler, from New Haven, Mo., leads UND in batting average (.321), hits (50) and RBI (31).
Marzolino, of Orange, Calif., has a .256 batting average with nine stolen bases.
Love, of Las Vegas, has 19 extra-base hits and leads UND with six homers and 11 steals.
The Fighting Hawks, the No. 3 seed in the Big Sky tournament, will face No. 6 Northern Colorado at 1 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament.
